AFTER THE TEST
| 120 | 300 Once you have finally got that precious FULL licence you need to hang on to it. Statistics have shown that new drivers are most likely to have an accident within the first two years of passing their Test. If they can stay safe for those two years then the chances of having a disaster significantly reduce from then onwards. This includes avoiding breaking the law for any Traffic Offences - remember that new drivers are only allowed six penalty points on their licences before they are suspended !! The Government launched a new driver scheme called Pass Plus to try to address this problem
This scheme is designed to give new drivers some more guidance for driving in todays conditions. THIS IS NOT A TEST but more training. It consists of a minimum of six hours of tuition in set subjects such as Motorway driving, bad weather and night driving, and is set at a higher level than the tuition for the Basic Driving Test. The emphasis is on defensive driving, and survival. To qualify for the certificate at the end of the course drivers will have satisfied the Instructor that they have achieved the set competencies in the syllabus They will then be able to use the certificate in applying for the discounts available on Insurance Premiums from participating Companies, a list of which is included with the Pass Plus guide. The course can be taken at any time but if the one year point has passed then it would be wise to check with the relevant Insurance Company to see if they still support the scheme.
